A couple of weeks ago, thanks to the annual MONSTERPALOOZA Convention at Pasedena, California, we received our first look at the Masters of the Universe 1:6 Scale Deluxe Scare Glow and Scare-Mare figures from Mondo.
Presented as 3D printed prototypes, the star of Mondo’s exhibit was the 3D printed female SCARE-MARE, a totally original character to MOTU with a brand new name (previously announced at Power-Con 2023 as “Nyte-Mare“).
Well now thanks to our incredibly awesome community member @smokinya, we not only have new details to share (courtesy of IGN) including some pictures teasing the new Scare-Mare (that we brightened up)… but he also typed up the highlights as well! Check them out:
Scare-Mare Info
– Features mixed media elements like removable armor and cloth components. The wings, tail and mane all glow in the dark. The figure has a massive 54-inch wingspan, though it also comes with swappable spectral energy pieces for the more space-conscious collectors out there.
– Scare-Mare is being inducted into the MOTU franchise as Mondo developed an entire backstory for our ghostly steed
– Backstory for Scare-Mare is going to be explored in a mini-comic included with Scare-Mare purchase!!!!
– A physical copy of the mini comic is included with the Scare Glow Deluxe & Scare-Mare 1:6 Scale bundle, while those who purchase just Scare Mare will receive a digital copy (interesting that the release of both figures will be jointly tied together)
Scare Glow Deluxe Info
-“For us this is the end all, be all of Scare Glows”
– Deluxe Scare Glow is going to have actual sculpted bones rather than the typical decal placed on the body. All the bones on his body have been sculpted and yes, they will fully glow in the dark
– Also included are accessories that showcase his human form Karak Null, as well as a fun zombie-fied version of Karak Null’s head
– “This new Scare Glow truly feels like it lives up to the style that we’ve developed in our MOTU line over the past few years. Without bias, it’s my favorite figure we’ve ever done!” (opinion of Mondo Senior Directors Hector Arce)
– @smokinya via our Community Forums
While a specific date has yet to be announced, both the Scare-Mare and Deluxe Scare Glow six scale Mondo figures will be available for pre-order soon on MondoShop.com.
Thanks again to the awesome @smokinya ! We’ll see you next time!
This is going to look amazing in the dark. Does anybody have an idea how much it will cost?
Around $1G
Such a shame…
@smokinya in with da news
I’ve never wanted a toy more or less… somehow?
Thanks SMOKE! I ain’t sure about the fully sculpted bones. But Mondo has been pullin off some great stuff. Can’t wait to see the reveal.
The Mare is gonna be insane. How is that even topped? 1/6th scale Castle Grayskull?
54 inch wingspan? My room has a 54 inch wingspan!
Appreciate the big shout out AJ!
@firmpulse hard to say how the sculpted bones are going to turn out without seeing the paint apps applied to the rest of the figure. I’m hoping he looks good though, the other two Mondo Scare Glows don’t really “fit" with the rest of the line IMO. I do have the Exclusive Classic variant sitting in his box still. I might end up selling it or trading it down the line
Peter and Hector have teased a 1/6 Grayskull before. Nothing confirmed or outright, but they did say that it would come in a big box along with divorce papers haha. I think they if they have the ability to do it they’ll try very hard to make it happen.
I wonder if Mattel would consider releasing Scare-Mare in Origins. It would actually be affordable
Mondo’s Scare-Mare is really cheap once you learn it comes included with divorce papers. Do you know how expensive it is to have a lawyer do it? 🤣
