Written by In celebration of He-Man’s 40th Anniversary in the Fall of 2022, Mattel announced a crowdfunding campaign for a Masters of the Universe Origins toyline version of the vintage (and massive) Eternia playset.
As an incentive to support the endeavor early, fans were offered an “early backers bonus” in the form of a Origins King Grayskull figure.
With 16 points of articulation (versus the 30 points we get with the Masterverse version), this Origins King Grayskull was a limited edition release and only available to fans who committed during the first week of the crowdfunding launch.
Fast forward to a few days ago, and shipping notices finally started going out for the Eternia playset. And as fans began receiving them, they noticed while The Moat Monster came included with the shipment, King Grayskull was nowhere to be found.
Now, Mattel Creations is reportedly informing fans that their King Grayskull figures are still coming, but just a little bit later. The King is scheduled to ship to early backers the 29th of March, 2024.

Why do i have a feeling like mattel is gonna bungle this all up like they have with past crowdfunding stuff?
I don’t mind waiting, as long as it arrives. I just hope my Eternia shows up with the box undamaged. I want to make a display table that incorporates the box underneath like I did for Classics Grayskull and Snake Mountain. I’ve seen some people with theirs arrive damaged and it doesn’t look like it’s packed as well as it should have been.
Damn. If mine shows up damaged I will be so pissed. Mattel better be prepared to send me a replacement if that happens.
A month late ain’t bad. Would be nice if they included Queen Grayskull too, just for the good will and brand loyalty.
I just got my King Grayskull delivered yesterday. He turned out good. Easy enough to make a kitbash custom if you didn’t get the official one. I like his recloseable slipcase packaging for sure. FedEx tracking shows my Eternia for delivery tomorrow… still nervous.
Anyone else receive their Eternia yet? Condition of the box?
