That Star Trek lineage just got a little bit larger for “Masters of the Universe: Revolution!” Just when we thought it would only be cast members William Shatner and Gates McFadden who has boldly gone where no one has gone before, it has now been reported by CBR that actor John De Lancie has joined the cast!
That’s right! Actor John De Lancie, most famous for his role as Q in the popular 1987-1994 television series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” is officially part of the Revolution cast… and he’s confirmed to be playing the role of Granamyr, lord of the dragons!
Originally voiced by legendary actor John Erwin in the 1983 Filmation cartoon “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, we think this casting of the amazingly talented John De Lancie is an absolutely brilliant choice to voice the oldest and wisest of the dragons.
His talents will certainly bring the necessary gravitas to a character full of authority, wisdom and self-importance… traits that have made this character so wonderfully iconic.
Amazing casting Netflix team! We’ll see you next time!
Great casting. Wonderful actor. As a ST:TNG fan this made my day.
I wonder if he’ll do a voice or do his voice.
this is perfect!! Love the rapid fire tidbits we are learning leading up to the premiere. John DeLancie is perfect for this role. I am a big My Little Pony fan from my childhood, and never thought much of the new series. Imagine my surprise when my daughter was watching it and I heard a familiar voice from the next room- DeLancie playing a character named Discord who is most definitely an homage to Q! Stuff like this feels like easter eggs to adult fans.
This is great news! John De Lancie is always 100% excellent.
I had secretly thought William Shatner would voice Granamyr but I’m happy.
So now we have Shatner, Gates and JDL Trek alumni. Wonderful!
If only it was January 25th already 🙂
That is awesome casting! John is an excellent actor.
Both William Shatner & John De Lancie appeared in the 1978 mini-series version of Little Women as Professor Friedrich Bhaer & Frank Vaughn respectively. The Professor marries Jo March (Susan Dey) who turned down Laurie (Richard Gilliland) who then married Jo’s sister Amy March (Ann Dusenberry) after she turned down Frank. 😀
You sure know your tv shows Mikey!
Man they’re really channelling the casting call for Gargoyles here
Star Trek has a high caliber talent pool to pull from.
Oh he is so much fun in everything from Star Trek to MLP!
