Back in 2019, DC Comics and IDW Publishing began working on a comic series project where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the evil Shredder would be transported into the world of Eternia for an all new adventure. (Read more about it HERE).
Unfortunately, this comic crossover between He-Man and the Ninja Turtles hit some production stumbling blocks, and after being delayed several times, it was ultimately cancelled.
Fortunately for fans of what-could-have-been projects, the artist behind the crossover comic series Freddie E. Williams II released a 64 Page Behind-the-scenes Sketchbook titled “He-Man/TMNT : The Crossover that almost was” for fans to purchase. While it wasn’t as great as getting the comic series itself, it was certainly better than nothing.
But now it seems what “almost was” is excitingly becoming closer to a reality, when artist Freddie E. Williams took to social media and revealed that he will be illustrating the minicomics for the new “Turtles of Grayskull” figures for the Masters of the Universe: Origins line! (Read more about those figures HERE.)
Here is Freddie had to say:
While not the comic series DC Comics and IDW Publishing had promised, the artist of that cancelled series coming back to do the upcoming “Turtles of Grayskull” Origins figures minicomics is definitely the next best thing!
The Masters of the Universe Origins Turtles of Grayskull toy line will be available starting in January 2024.
We’ll see you next time!

Makes me wish that they would consider revisiting the project.
@costume-n00b If He-Man comic rights were still at DC maybe they could.
