Is the Netflix ”Masters of the Universe” Live-Action Film finally moving forward?

Most fans have taken an “I will believe it when I see it” approach when it comes to a new live-action Masters of the Universe film (and who can blame them.) This latest incarnation with The Nee Brothers signing on to direct in 2018 has resulted in nothing so far, suffering through multiple setbacks with a gamut of writer changes, studio changes (from Sony to Netflix), and a He-Man casting change (from actor Noah Centineo to Kyle Allen.) Fast forward to 2023 and there is still no new He-Man movie to show for it. But perhaps, our luck is finally changing.

A few weeks ago we received an anonymous scoop that the new Masters of the Universe movie is back on track. We actually receive a lot of scoops that we do not report on (like more than one MOTU movie may be filmed back-to-back to save costs -or- MOTU may be turned into a live-action series instead). We do not report on these scoops because we often cannot substantiate the info, must treat them as a rumor, and ultimately do not want get fans’ hopes up (only to possibly let them down again later.) But this time, we noticed something interesting.

Per the Instagram story of one of the directors signed to direct “Masters of the Universe”, Adam Nee, we realized that Adam is currently in Copenhagen, the Capital of Denmark.

No big deal right? Adam Nee may be enjoying a nice Denmark vacation.

Except, we recognized the woman in the Instagram Story who Adam was with. Adam Nee was with Carrie Gillogly, a Netflix executive who joined the streaming entertainment company a few months ago as a Director of Drama Series in US & Canada. So suddenly it seems it’s not a personal trip at all, but a business trip.

Could this be a sign that Adam Nee and Carrie Gillogly are together scouting filming locations, or even as far as beginning the production on a “Masters of the Universe” series or movie(s) there? We do know Copenhagen, Denmark is a hub for multiple production companies and studios, surrounded by some amazing filming locations (and Copenhagen was rumored to be a possible location for a He-Man flick before.)

Or is this for an entirely different production Adam Nee and Netflix is involved with together that hasn’t been announced yet? We just don’t know for certain, but stay tuned and perhaps our MOTU movie dreams may finally turn into reality.

Hopefully we’ll know more soon.

We’ll see you next time!

  1. Wonder if they’re keeping the whole “Adam lives on Earth with Marlena at the start" part of the plot?
I know some people would immediately pull out the torches and pitchforks upon hearing it, but it could be interesting if they did it correctly.
