Written by A couple of weeks ago (reported HERE) we learned through comic solicitations that “Masterverse” comics would be coming to our local comic shops this February 2023. Spanning over four issues, Masterverse was revealed to be an anthology comic series surrounding a through-line story where the Sorceress and Zodac debate the value of He-Man and is written by the comic tour de force Tim Seeley!
Now back in September, Mattel had teased some preview art for these comics that at least appeared to feature the Sorceress from “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”. Check it out:
Well now thanks to Masterverse writer Tim Seeley via Twitter, we can safely confirm that this anthology series will indeed take place in the “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” continuity.
It began earlier today when Tim shared an article from GamesRadar+, where it indicated this limited series “was set in the universe of the Netflix animated series Revelation executive produced by Kevin Smith.” Once reading that revelation (pun intended), we asked Tim through Twitter if he could confirm the connection between “Masterverse” and the 2021 Netflix series. Here is what he had to say:
So there it is! We already previously learned that the first issue will feature art by Eddie Nuñez “who illustrates a framing story”, so we imagine this Revelation universe ‘frame’ story that keeps getting mentioned is where the Sorceress takes Zodac throughout the multiverse to debate He-Man’s value.
The interesting thing here is though, considering we see the Sorceress apparently alive in these comics, yet she already died in the events of “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”, does this mean the Masterverse comics will be another prequel series? I guess we’ll find out!
Either way, more comics in the “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” universe continuity is very, very exciting.
