Melissa Benoist replaces Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela in ”Masters of the Universe: Revolution”

Well this is shocking! Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Teela in “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” has been replaced!

First reported by The Wrap, Mattel has announced that Melissa Benoist, wife to He-Man actor Chris Wood and “Supergirl” actor has now joined the voice cast of Netflix’’s “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” as Teela in place of actor Sarah Michelle Gellar . Here is Melissa’s statement:

“I jumped at the opportunity to work alongside my friend, Kevin Smith and join the ‘Revolution’ family as another bold and fearless heroine,” Benoist said. “I look forward to sharing the next evolution of Teela’s story with fans.”

Fred Soulie, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Mattel Television also had this to say about Teela’s new actress:

“On the heels of our 40th anniversary, He-Man is more prevalent in pop culture than ever before, which is why we’re especially excited to bring the force that is Melissa Benoist into the fold. Melissa already exemplifies every aspect of Teela’s formidable personality, and we know that she will continue to showcase the same heart as she did in Supergirl, providing audiences with a new iteration of a classic character synonymous with strength and heroism.”

No word yet on why actor Sarah Michelle Gellar won’t be returning and if she was never scheduled to return… or if Sarah had actually recorded dialogue for Teela, but now her voicework will be discarded. We shall see.

We’ll see you next time.

  1. I love SMG. I am a diehard Buffy fan. But sometimes all I could hear when Teela spoke in Revelations was Buffy. SMG did a wonderful job and I’m grateful she joined the first season, but I’m open to another actress taking her place. Plus, her career has had a comeback with Wolf Pack and other commitments, so maybe it was just scheduling issues.

Could indeed be why it is delayed to 2024

Indeed! It’s interesting we are hearing about it now though, right? I have to assume the voice recordings were done a long time ago including Teela’s. Voicework is usually recorded long before the animation work and we had Mark Hamill, Tony Todd and Griffen Newman basically confirm to the public they were doing more Motu recordings way back in the Spring of 2022. So if it was Melissa instead of Sarah back then too,  why sit on the announcement? 🤔

    1. I am gone for a bit and the stuff hits the fan. 😆
This is fine I guess. They better be happily married that’s all I got to say.

      Always happens when I leave.
I’d be fine with them either married or confirmed in a relationship.
