ROYAL PALACE MATCH? “Masters of the Universe” Movie Set aesthetics match Wells Cathedral filming location!

When the behind-the-scenes footage of the “Masters of the Universe” Movie set was first revealed, many were immediately excited by the character activity of Prince Adam, Skeletor and Evil-Lyn surrounded by green screen… and what appeared to be an aircraft landing walkway behind them.

But behind that green screen appeared to be some type of palace walls that led out to a courtyard and what seemed to be a wonderful map of Eternia.

And now looking more closely at those set walls and the actual walls of the Wells Cathedral (a filming location the “Masters of the Universe” Movie used last week – read more about that HERE), you’ll notice an aesthetic similarity!

Inside the real Wells Cathedral in Somerset, England

Yes, it appears those walls on set match the scissor arches in the Wells Cathedral, unique architecture that the Cathedral has become famous for!

Check it out:

Why we feel confident this exterior and interior is the Royal Palace (and not a different location like Castle Grayskull) is besides the royal asthetics, both Young Adam and Young Teela actors announced they were done filming the same day the “Masters of the Universe” Movie crew was finished using the Wells Cathedral.

Actors Artie Wilkinson-Hunt and Eire Farrell

This leads us to believe that both young actors filmed inside the Cathedral, and naturally their characters would likely be in or around the Royal Palace (and not in Castle Grayskull.)

Either way, we can’t wait to see how this movie blends the set design with the real architecture on screen!

Filming for “Masters of the Universe” is currently underway with the movie scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

We’ll see you next time!
