The Evil Horde is up to their evil tricks again.
The Masters of the Universe: Origins Fright Zone playset has disappeared from this month’s Mattel Creations Launch Calendar.

Originally slated with a June 27th order date, collectors were excited that the trap-filled stronghold of terror was finally coming to the Masters of the Universe: Origins action figure line. However now, it has disappeared from the calendar completely.

Dark magic? Production Problems? Mattel Error? Mattel hasn’t divulged what went wrong at this point, but it appears fans will have to wait for the Fright Zone a little while longer.
Thanks to the awesome Marco and @depp76 for the ‘heads up’.
We’ll see you next time.
Those bumblesome boobs!
Classic Mattel
What the dickens is going on at Mattel. First the Viper Tower debarcle and now this! I’m not even collecting Origins, but they really do like to diddle people about. Get yourselves sorted Mattel.
Seriously should any of us be surprised? This is Mattel we’re talking here.
Look at the randomness of announcing new lines at London Comic Con, and the sheer weirdness of their own event a while back… one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing.
Oh for fuck’s sake.
Is it too much to ask for one of the most popular toy brands on this globe to not act like bumbling buffoons every 2nd time I look at them?
@lurker-man It doesn’t matter because they know we’re all going to keep buying every bit of plastic crack that they offer.
@durendal
They have to release it though. 😉
But TBH; while I’m still on buying MOTU Origins (and the occasional Masterverse) I’m not going all in with everything just for the sake of it; even with things I have (or had) a passing interest like that He-Man 4-pack. Saw they had a bit of a sale on it recently and was a price for which I could have seen me buying it back then but now not really anymore.
I was kinda all in when they started with Origins; it felt they where also more genuine intersted in getting people on board (I mean self explanatory with a new line release); but after having jumped through burning hoops a fistful of times because they fumbled in one way or another (be it pricing, be it release, be it scalp pricing because of release incompetence) I’m mostly done with the jumping. My Mattel stance has pretty much become “you want me to buy it? Release it without being a bother and I gladly do it; otherwise p**s off".
Yup, I know countless people (including the hardcore) who have walked away or never even started because Mattel couldn’t run a bath.
@lurker-man A lamentable yet indisputable reality.
@sketchyskeletor Tell me about the hardcore fans. I’m speechless.
It’s so visible too, here in the UK the cartoon collection goes on immediate discount. Invisible Skeletor is already 17 down from 24, same with Frosta, Faker…
The best example I have is a friend who couldn’t get any of the WWE crossover (his dream come true) but went all in on Origins despite, well, everything. He now doesn’t care about what’s on Cretins, Masterverse or what’s left of the crossovers. He was bitten more than once like the rest of us.
As he always states, he can get stuff directly from Asia or much higher quality figures from Jada easier than he can a decades old, billion dollar megacorp. There’s simply no excuse for Mattel.
@sketchyskeletor I completely agree that such a large corporation cannot excuse what its customers have experienced in recent years. Their artificial scarcity phenomenon literally made me paranoid and led me to immediately buy the Masterverse Blade figure. I didn’t want to contribute to another unscrupulous eBay seller’s vacation fund. Enough is enough !
