Well this is disappointing.
Mattel has delayed the order launch for their Masters of the Universe: Origins Rio Blast figure until January 21st.
First shown off at San Diego Comic-Con this past July, fans were truly excited to see this vintage character finally go on sale at his original scheduled order date: Today at 9AM PT.
Something started feeling fishy though when the usual Mattel Creations order page with countdown timer never appeared several days before launch. Yet, even as of early this morning, Mattel Creations’ calendar still indicated Rio Blast was going on sale today.
And now it’s not. A little while ago, without notification or fanfare, Mattel moved the Rio Blast date on their calendar to Tuesday, January 21st at 9AM PT, well after many Origins collectors planned their day to not miss out on this fan favorite character.
So what exactly happened? We don’t know. We reached out to Mattel early this morning (prior to their low key date switch) but have yet to receive a response.
We’ll see you next time.
Knew it. Mattel get your shit together.
Too much egg nog at the Mattel holiday party?
@gettinhighlander
I’d rather see them delay this than rush it through messed up.
@admin you reaching out might have triggered Mattel to change it bro.
I hadn’t thought about that way but I guess it is possible. 🙂
Also strange that the initial drop was on a Monday and not a Tuesday like it normally is
