This past May we reported that Plaion Pictures had announced a brand new Five Disc Blu-Ray Set of the classic 1983 Filmation cartoon series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”.
Advertised as a “Volume One” (with more presumptive volumes to follow), the Blu-Ray release was first slated for an August 21st, 2024 release, and then delayed to September 11th. Now per the Plaion Pictures official website, this new release has unfortunately been delayed yet again until October 23rd 2024.
While the multiple delays have been certainly frustrating, at least we have the official cover art to share! An interesting departure from the animation style found in the actual classic series, this beautiful illustration appears to be painted (with its artist yet to be identified.) Check it out:
While not meant for resale in countries like the United States, fans around the world that missed out on Plaion Pictures’ “Eternia Collection” boxset have been looking forward to this release because previously (although their discs had German menus), every episode could be watched in English on region-free discs.
And while not true HD Masters from its original source, these upscale from PAL master Blu-Ray discs did become the highest quality release to date for Filmation He-Man (and She-Ra) fans.
Hopefully Plaion Pictures wont delay the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (1983) (Vol. 1) (5 Blu-ray) set any further.
We’ll see you next time
