MASTERVERSE Returns to U.S. retail shelves at Walmart chain stores nationwide

The toys are back in town!

Many Masters of the Universe collectors have wondered for a while now if Masterverse figures would ever have a presence again in any of the big national brick and mortar retail chains (like Walmart or Target).

While Mattel has been very transparent with their other popular MOTU action figure line Origins (informing collectors that both the “Turtles of Grayskull” and “Cartoon Collection” sublines would be appearing in physical stores, while most of their future vintage releases would be exclusively offered via the Mattel Creations website)… Masterverse’s physical retail store future appeared less certain.

Some had wondered if last summer was the final nail in the coffin for Masterverse’s retail shelf premise forever… and for a while, it seemed to be the case. Its biggest nationwide carrier, the national general merchandise retail chain Target, seemed to stop carrying new Masterverse waves entirely.

Masterverse updated their packaging with Wave 11

Then Mattel announced a new refreshing of the Masterverse packaging with a sleeker 2.0 aesthetic that brought new hope to collectors for a relaunch at physical retail stores. But as time went by, it appeared (at first) that Masterverse Wave 11 with its new state-of-the-art packaging, was not coming to either of the big chains.

But now, over the past several days, collectors have noticed that Wave 12 of Masterverse consisting of Battle Armor He-Man (Revolution), Tri-Klops (New Eternia), Mekaneck (New Eternia) and King Keldor (Revolution) have started appearing in Walmart stores from Washington State to New Jersey, and everywhere in between! And now the previous Wave 11 appears to be showing up in some Walmarts too! Yes, Masterverse is back!

Now in lieu of the January 2024 release of the new animated series “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” on Netflix, it would have been nice to see the Battle Armor He-Man and King Keldor Revolution figures hit shelves in January as well, timed with the show’s release as cross promotion. While better late than never, it certainly seems like a missed opportunity.

Regardless, it is great to see Masterverse back on retail shelves! We’ll see you next time.
