Nate Baertsch, the incredible artist behind the second (and surprisingly, not final) poster for the terrific “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” Netflix animated series, took to social media today and gave fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the work that went into creating his iconic poster.
Baertsch showed off possible variant ideas like alternate color palettes for his poster, that pushed heavily into both the pink and teal spectrums. His fantastic poster was also originally going to feature a heavier villian roster than what resulted in the final piece. Check it out:
NATE BAERTSCH: “A little behind the scenes on the Revolution poster I did with the incredible team Netflix and my dear friend (Executive Producer) Ted Biaselli. You can see that at one point I was going to include even more bad guys on the poster.
“There wasn’t any real direction to remove them? It was more up to me and the time I was able to give the project.
“I love the final poster, love that I was able to include Granamyr, and place the focus on the bad guys in a more clear composition. I do regret not getting Gwildor in the final though… Someday Ted! Someday!!! Enjoy also a possible color difference, pushing even more into the pinks and teal colors.
“In the end the team all felt that classic MotU red was the way to go, and I agreed.”
Go watch “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” again on Netflix. We’ll see you next time!
