Celebrating 40 Years: The First Animated He-Man! Revisiting the Masters of the Universe Cartoon Commercial by Filmation

As Mattel has been pulling out all the stops in celebration of He-Man’s 40th Anniversary with new figure and playset announcements, animated shorts featuring Motu figures, and a free screening of the Masters of the Universe 1987 Feature Film tonight in four major U.S. cities (including a livestream of He-Man actor Dolph Lundgren answering questions), the toy company really has He-Man’s monumental Birthday covered.

But we thought it might be fun to add to the celebration by re-watching the first time He-Man aired on television in Animated form! Posted on all our social media accounts, this glorious Masters of the Universe Commercial was produced by Filmation to advertise the 1982 vintage toys, long before the classic Filmation series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” was ever released.

So let’s take a minute to revisit this quick animated classic, shall we?

And Happy 40th Birthday to you He-Man! Thanks for giving us forty years of fun, joy, and of course…. the power.

We’ll see you next time.
