Written by Continuing the 40th Anniversary celebration of Masters of the Universe via “MOTUesdays” on their social media pages, Mattel has just announced that a Grizzlor figure in their Origins line, the man-beast servent to the Evil Horde, will be available for order as an exclusive this September. But what is really interesting here is not only will there be a limited quantity for order available on day one (something fans are used to), but a second made-to-order batch will be offered on day two.

There have been a great deal of collectors who have clamored for a new purchasing model from Mattel Creations when it comes to limited timed release exclusives. Too many fans have walked away with an empty cart and a sold out notification, only to see scalpers online selling these exclusives for triple the price in the secondary market. So it is nice to see Mattel adopt this new selling model (hopefully going forward.)
The only thing we are left wondering now is: why would Mattel continue to sell a limited amount of Grizzlor figures on a separate day, when anyone can order it for a full 48 hours starting the following day? Does this mean there will be two Grizzlor versions (the limited release Grizzlor and the made-to-order version) with differences either in the figure itself, accessories or packaging? Or will there just be a delay in shipping from day one orders to day two? Only time will tell.
