We have a long road ahead of us before fans get to see the anticipated follow-up to “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” on Netflix, titled “Masters of the Universe: Revolution”.
While it is fun for fans to speculate on which new Masters of the Universe characters might appear in this new follow-up series, some may not be aware that showrunner Kevin Smith did drop two big names this past November that are seemingly shoe-ins to be featured in Revolution next year (or whenever the Netflix series ultimately will air).
These names were dropped when Kevin Smith was doing a small press tour to promote the second half of “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” back in November 2021, and while speaking to the website Thrillist, was asked “Did you have a list of characters you wish you could’ve featured, but it just didn’t work with the story? There are so many characters we didn’t get to see such as Mekaneck, Granamyr, and Zodak.”
This was Kevin Smith’s reply:
KEVIN SMITH: “You literally just mentioned two names we tried to shoehorn into our story. If we get to do a Season 2, be assured you will probably be seeing those cats. But we tried. We were like, “All right, what if we did this?” But it turned out we were like, “If we get to do a Season 2, based on what we seeded in Season 1, Mekaneck will be a very useful character there.” And same thing with Granamyr as well. But it’s an embarrassment of riches with Masters of the Universe because the bench is so deep. I’m sure by the end of Revelation, there will be people who are mad at us, not because of anything we did the story, but because we didn’t include their favorite figure.”

So in regards to the characters of Mekaneck and Granamyr, Kevin Smith said “based on what we seeded in Season 1” that “If we get to do a Season 2, be assured you will probably be seeing those cats.”
Now it’s important to caveat that story ideas can always change and it’s been seven months since Kevin Smith first made that reveal. However, if “Masters of the Universe: Revolution” stays close to Smith’s original path in mind, we may very well see the lord of the dragons and the hero with a bionic neck next season!
Until next time!
