Perhaps no single aspect of “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” has been praised more than its spectacular score composed by Bear McCreary. The symphonic, metal, glorious soundtrack was just simply epic, so it comes as no surprise that the music won television’s coveted Best Score award from the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA).
WINNER – BEST ORIGINAL SCORE FOR TELEVISION 2021
• MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: REVELATION, music by Bear McCreary
Bear McCreary took to Twitter last night to share his thoughts and thanks.
“Yesterday the International Film Music Critics Association selected “Masters of the Universe: Revelation” as the best television score of 2021. I am deeply honored, and more than a little stunned.
“When I signed on to score a half hour He-Man sequel cartoon series with Kevin Smith, the guy famous for dick jokes and pot references in Clerks, I never intended to write a score that anyone would consider for an award.
“I just wanted to play with my musical action figures, blast heavy metal riffs beneath soaring orchestral melodies, and have fun hanging out with a filmmaker I’ve always admired. I did all that, and considered the experience complete.
“Huge thanks to the critics who listened. As a fellow soundtrack geek myself, I know you listen on a deeper level than most people, so this award means so much more!
“And a special shout out to all my fellow nominees, Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson, Natalie Holt, and my friend Chris Lennertz. You wrote stellar scores, and I look forward to hearing your next work in this medium and beyond. (But tough luck to that guy who scored Foundation!🤣)

Congratulations Bear, and thank you for creating such a wonderful soundtrack to “Masters of the Universe: Revelation”! And as many of us are fans of physical media, we really hope they release Part Two on CD now.
Until next time!
Congratulations!
