For anyone hoping to read my reviews of the CGI series, we've now reached Episode 18 - The Fifth Nemesis.
If you're not up to date, you can find older reviews on the Contents page.
Enjoy!
Is there really no chance for a season 4?
@talonfighter I've got no idea. I'd love it if there were more, but I'm not holding my breath at this stage.
That complete series dvd release exposed the final coffin nail.

Ah, I'd missed that news. Yeah, that does sound pretty final. 🙁
This week's review is The Haunting of Castle Grayskull, which is fine but I'd hesitate to describe as a series highlight.
Time to play in the snow and ice this week, with Frozen Solid.
Good review mate.

And this week we've got Mer-Man's big showcase, in Wrath of the Mer-Man.
This time we're all hanging out in The Tomb of Grayskull.
These are absolutely awesome reviews! 😀

Not many of these left, I'm sorry to say - this week's is A Leap of Faith.
The timing is brilliant mate. You can segue immediately into Revolution. After meticulously analyzing all of this content, do you have a favourite series of the bunch?

I know - I couldn't have timed it better if I'd tried! Back when I started posting in March 2016 I had no idea there would ever be any more MOTU content after 200X. It's kept me busy much longer than I expected.
As for my favourite... it's not a fair competition really, Filmation He-Man is always going to win: I loved it so much as a child and still think it holds up remarkably well, despite being extremely silly. But second place is much harder to choose. Filmation She-Ra is up there, as is the CGI Netflix series. 200X was very good too. I liked Netflix She-Ra initially but think it massively dropped the ball, and though I think there's a lot to like about NA and Revelation, I would put them towards the bottom of the scale.
What would your favourite be?

Same. My favourite is Filmation He-Man as well. I would be barmy to say there isn't some poor episodes but the best are still the best including story, character design, score, and spirit.
What comes next is undecided but I certainly wouldn't put Revelation next to New Adventures at the bottom of the pile.

Yeah... I don't know quite what it was about Revelation that didn't do it for me. I'm not usually a fan of big "destroy the universe" storylines - my favourites are generally more quieter, low-stakes stories: I tend to prefer, for example, the mid-season episodes of Doctor Who rather than the big season finales. When the stakes are upped so dramatically, I find it harder to care because it somehow becomes much less relatable, and Revelation goes down that road. Fighting over the rule of Eternia, fine; but not someone trying to destroy the entire universe for, you know, reasons.
The other thing I didn't like so much about it was its comparative lack of humour: while I wouldn't say it was full-on grimdark, the series seemed to be going for a serious vibe which, in my view, doesn't suit MOTU. I know others here do prefer the less campy interpretations of the property, but for me, I really enjoy MOTU when it leans into its inherent silliness, which Filmation and CGI do, while Revelation leans very much away from that.
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, as I have every incarnation of MOTU - but if we're ranking, there's always going to be something at the bottom, and for me, Revelation is towards that spot.

I fear Revolution won't rank well on your list either. It too goes down the road of the universe is in jeopardy. And with five less episodes I suspect there will be less smaller moments and bits of humour to appeal to your sensibilities.

Maybe! I had kind of assumed it would be similar in tone to Revelation anyway, so that's pretty much what I expected. Still, in my view, any MOTU is better than no MOTU, and I'm really keen to see a reimagined Evil Horde on screen at last (still feel bitter that we missed that in 200X), so I'm very much looking forward to it!
